As the year draws to a close, and with the 2024 reflection post now on the blog, I thought I’d share my favourite books from the past year.
I have recently been trying to read more again, replacing screen time with the pages of a physical book.
There is just something different about holding a real book in your hands, turning each page, that creates a totally different experience. I didn’t like reading when I was young. But as I’ve ‘grown up’ I’ve found myself wanting to delve into reading more and more. I know it benefits me and my brain. Especially in the late evenings as part of a wind down from the day.
With this in mind, as we wind down the year and look towards the new, I thought I would share the books that have stood out for me this year.
- Do Story by Bobette Buster
- The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson
- Building Green Software by Anne Curie, Sarah Hsu, Sara Bergman
- No Bullsh*t Strategy by Alex M H Smith
- Company of One by Paul Jarvis
- From What Is to What If by Rob Hopkins
- Do Improvise by Robert Poynton
Each book has brought something different. As you can see from some of the titles, I have been reading a lot about business, strategy and storytelling. More on why very soon.
I have also read more on my focus topic of green software/websites. I think it is important to read what others have been researching, thinking and finding. Coupling that with my own research and knowledge, I believe this is the best way to continuously improve. Something I’ve always been a firm believer in.
I’d love to know if you have a favourite book from the past year. Let me know on the LinkedIn post on the same topic, or via Bluesky.
