This website is grid-aware and reacts to the carbon intensity of the UK's electricity grid

The Sustainable Creative Charter was co-created as part of Goodfest Cornwall 2021. It is built as an example for other creatives; an example of how you can design and build an ultra-low carbon website whilst retaining a creative edge.

I was responsible for both the design and build of the website as part of LEAP’s continued work to push for a greener web and creative industries.

The website provided an easy user journey for people to sign the charter and be listed. It was also my first foray into creating a grid-aware website. That is, a website that changes based on the amount of renewable energy on the local energy grid.

Using an API specific to the UK’s energy grid, this front-end implementation changes the styling to indicate how carbon intensive the electricity grid is at the current time.
