The brief
Russ approached me looking to re-launch his personal website. After working with a designer on his personal brand, he was interested in bringing the website to life in a low-carbon way, whilst retaining all of the brand styling.
The outcome
I worked alongside designer Ben Horsley-Summer to ensure the website was not only going to be low-weight, but also accessible in terms of colour combinations and font sizes. I then built the website over WordPress, a CMS that Russ was already familiar with.
After simplifying the admin controls and running optimisations on the CMS, I hand-coded the WordPress theme to my low-carbon standards. Adding a little touch of animation to the core pillars to highlight Russ’s work. Further optimisations took place once the website was live, to add dynamic image generation for modern image formats, as well as caching.
Hosted with 100% renewable energy with Krystal, this website is lightweight on both the browser and the planet.
It was a great project to work on, and a bonus to create a website for such a kind and forward-thinking individual.
Working with Nick on my website has been a pleasure. Having been familiar with Nick’s work for a while, he was the only person I was going to go to when I wanted to get my personal brand site live again. I wanted my new site to be as low carbon as possible and Nick has nailed that for me. The whole process was smooth and easy. Couldn’t recommend Nick more highly!
