Since 2019, Digital Action has been mobilising a global network of partners to demand better standards from the governments and corporations responsible for our digital environments. From irresponsible data gathering to inscrutable algorithms, Big Tech has generated a wide range of digital threats to democracy and human rights.

All of this can bring severe offline consequences. From encouraging violence, to intensifying societal inequalities. From polluting public discourse, to jeopardising democratic rights. That’s why Digital Action campaigns with partners around the globe to hold Big Tech companies accountable.

The brief

Digital Action approached Leap because their current website wasn’t fit for purpose. Built over Squarespace, the website wasn’t very user friendly, and it didn’t allow the team to add the content they needed. With an ever increasing need to improve standards across the internet, Digital Action required a new design, and a low-carbon approach to the new website.

The outcome

The Leap team worked on the design, including new icons and brand extension for the website. Working closely with the design team, my focus was on bringing the design’s to life in a low-carbon way, as well as to consult on the user experience and direction to enable a high-performance build.

We opted for using WordPress as a CMS, as it allows fantastic flexibility, as well being open-source, which marries well with Digital Action’s mission.

The result is a very fast and light weight website, with a clean and bright design, that protects users privacy across the globe whilst allowing Digital Action to push forward with their campaigns.
