Using imagination to bring a positive future to life

We live in interesting times…

Negativity and fear are rife across the creative and digital industries. It can sometimes feel like the child-like optimism, playfulness and joy that so many of us enjoyed when we first entered creative jobs is being lost. Lost to the algorithms, the bots, the generative artificial ‘intelligence’ of a soulless machine.

It can be tough staying positive in times like these.

“Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere.”Albert Einstein

Recently, I’ve been spending some time using my imagination. Dreaming up ideas of the positive future that I wish to live in. It is a very powerful tool for hope and optimism. An incredible motivator. The creator of passion and drive to go forth and create that future.

So I invite you all to take a few moments in a quiet space. To soften you gaze or close your eyes. Imagine. Dream. Think clearly, as if it were real for you right now.

  • How would you like to live and work?
  • What is your day to day life like?
  • Who are you with?
  • Where are you?

Then, write it all down. Draw it. Sketch it. Sing it. Make a dance out of it. Take it from your brain and make it physical. I promise you will feel lighter and more optimistic about the future.

After that? Make some plans as to how you can make that future happen. 1% better every day.
